Individual and Group Consultation

An EMDRIA-approved Consultant since 2004, Julie offers phone consultation groups which specifically focus on EMDR treatment issues. In her consultation with other therapists, Julie is knowledgeable, creative and supportive.

There are two different types of consultation groups. One is specifically for people who are obtaining 10 hours of required consultation during Basic Training.  The other type of group is for people after completion of Basic Training for ongoing support and possible accumulation of consultation hours toward Certification as an EMDR Therapist through EMDRIA.

Consultation Addresses the Following Issues

  1. Use of EMDR within a structured treatment plan
  2. Application of the standard EMDR procedural steps
  3. Case conceptualization and target selection
  4. Client readiness including inclusion, exclusion and cautionary criteria for EMDR reprocessing
  5. Client safety and effective outcomes using the standard EMDR procedural steps
  6. Integration of EMDR into participants' existing clinical setting or in an alternate clinical setting
  7. Specific application of skills

Whenever possible the consultation format provides the opportunity to assess the strengths and weaknesses of participants work with clients through use of video/audio tapes or transcripts of sessions.

Other issues that may be addressed in consultation are boundaries, transference/countertransference, the professional/personal interface (vicarious trauma), diversity, and referral and collaboration with other health care professionals.
